Eye Caramba

If you're weird about eyeball injuries, don't read this post.

Ah! CBS 2 has a bunch of terrifying photos of kids with gruesome eyeball wounds. Go-go-gadget "I want to shriek for a million years."

It's all part of the station's "investigation" into those metal hooks that hold merchandise at stores.

Christiana Terracciano of Carol Stream was with her daughter, Elisiana, when the 2-year-old lost her balance while leaning toward a Valentine's Day display in 2005 at Kohl's in Bloomingdale.

She fell directly onto a wall covered with sharp, metal hooks at the check out counter.

"I turned around and just saw blood squirting out of her eye," Terracciano said. "The hook was inside of her eye."

Good lord. The National Safety Council, a nonprofit "dedicated to educating and influencing people to prevent accidental injuries and deaths," says preventing these injuries is easy: Use a different kind of just-as-available hook. [CBS 2]
