Eight's Not Enough

2008_05_sox_thome_dye.jpgFor the second time this week, the White Sox pulled out their brooms. With last night's 3-1 win over the Cleveland Indians, the Sox swept the series, after sweeping the Giants earlier in the week.

The Sox have now won eight straight games and 11 of their last 14. At 26-20, the currently hold a 3 1/2 game lead over the Minnesota Twins in the AL Central.

But can they keep up their winning ways? The team last lost in Anaheim against the Angels, dropping the first two matches of a four-game series before winning the last two to begin this current streak. With the Angels coming to town for the holiday weekend, the Sox can't expect an easy time. Tonight, Joe Saunders takes the mound against Gavin Floyd. Out west, the Sox never faced Saunders, currently 7-1 with a sub-2.50 ERA. But Floyd has pitched nearly as well this season, sporting a 2.92 ERA and a 4-2 record -- expect a 2-1 nail biter at the Cell tonight.
