Electronics Now Available in Vending Machines at Macy's

2008_05_ipoddispenser.jpgYou know when you toss money in a vending machine and then absent-mindedly hit the wrong buttons, and end up with vanilla wafers instead of your coveted Snickers? Or you watch the mini turnstyle spin only to stop just short of dropping your snack, and your Fritos dangle by a thread in front of your face as if to taunt you?

Well you'd better hope that does NOT happen when using the vending machines at Macy's that dispense expensive electronic devices. With the push of a few buttons, customers can now purchase a variety of items including various forms of the iPod, digital cameras, and electronic accessories such as headphones. The highest-priced items available cost about $350.

These machines have already been available in the downtown Macy's locations, as well as in Schaumburg, Skokie and Aurora, and are now being added in Northbrook, Oak Brook, Orland Park, Vernon Hills and Calumet City. If you happen to be at the State Street store, you can also give their Proactiv Solution vending machines a try. What's next? We're hoping beer. [S-T]
