Man Assaults Wife On Honeymoon

merrillville indiana jose cuevas domestic violenceA Chicago man was arrested over the weekend in Merrillville, Indiana for attempting to kill his wife on their honeymoon.

Jose Cuevas Jr., 37, is accused of holding Marbelin Jeronimo's head underwater in a hot tub in their room and biting flesh off her arm while they were staying Friday at a Days Inn in the town south of Gary. ...

Jeronimo said he became enraged at her when she refused to his demand for a sex act. She said after he let her head up out of the water he said he would kill her and said, "all you want is child support."

Police reported that he beat her and threw her around the room while she pleaded for her life. She said she fell into the hallway during the beating and a woman came to her aid.


Cuevas was charged with domestic battery on Friday, but charges were upgraded yesterday to include attempted murder, aggravated battery, criminal deviate conduct and battery.
