Homeless Pets Go Rags to Riches This Weekend

By Kevin Robinson in Miscellaneous on May 30, 2008 5:00PM

With temperatures expected to be in the seventies this weekend, Sunday is going to be a great day to adopt a new best friend.

2008_5_mr_stinky.jpgPAWS Chicago, the city's largest No Kill humane organization, is hosting its 11th annual Angels With Tails adoption event. Along Michigan Ave and Oak Street, some of the city's premiere shopping destinations will showcase homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens, right in their storefront windows! This year, 56 stores will be participating in partnership with well over a dozen local adoption agencies.

Founded in 1997, PAWS Chicago has focused its efforts on finding solutions to end the killing of homeless pets in the city. Since then, the number of homeless pets euthanized annually has dropped more than 50 percent, from over 42,000 in 1997 to under 20,000 in 2006.

Mr. Stinky will be appearing at Barneys New York. PAWS Chicago wants you to know that animals attending Angels with Tails will not be available for adoption until the day of the event, and applications will be available on-site.
