IDOT Won't Clean Up All Road Kill Anymore

By Margaret Lyons in News on May 30, 2008 10:38PM

2008_5_30.traffic.jpgWonderful news from the Illinois Department of Transportation this afternoon: They're not going to be picking up all the roadkill on state roads this summer in at attempt to cut costs. IDOT is way overbudget thanks to all the plowing they had to do this especially snowy winter, so they don't have the money to spend on roadkill removal. "Hazardous" carcasses and those in actual driving lanes will be removed, but all the other dearly departed critters will just play their part in the circle of life from the side of the road. Good news, vultures! [AP, photo by Coollead]
