Come Sale Away - Domino Design District

2008_06_dominodesign.gifThe Armitage Avenue area in Lincoln Park is normally a trendy, hoity-toity retail district that’s reserved for gold card shoppers, but this weekend it’s dripping with discounts that make it more accessible to you and your pocket money. Domino magazine, which is dedicated to stylish home decor, is throwing a weekend long shopping and style block party where prices are cut and free stuff abounds.

There’s at least 20% off at almost every boutique, and even at chains like Benetton and Benefit Cosmetics. There are classes, consultations, free gifts and wine tastings all over as well. The list of goings-on is actually quite extensive, but we’ve picked out a few that are worth your trip to Yuppieville.

Aroma Workshop - 2050 N. Halsted
Every hour from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday they’ll be hosting “Make Your Own Summer Fragrance” classes. They’ll help you make a signature fragrance that’s actually your own, plus it’s 20% off at the store and a free gift with any purchase.

Kiehl’s - 907 W. Armitage
These pricey skin care products will be on sale, but that’s not really the reason to go. Kiehl’s will be holding free skin consultations between 3 - 4 p.m. on Saturday. It can cost a pretty penny at a skin spa to have someone poke at your pores and broken capillaries, so it’s worth popping in. L’Occitane is doing the same thing around the corner, but Kiehl’s is handing out glasses of Kendall-Jackson, so that’s where we’re heading.

Jayson Home & Garden - 1885 N. Clybourn
In addition to the discounted goods, the store’s resident florist will hold a free class on flower arranging between 1 - 2 p.m. on Saturday. One of Domino’s senior editors will also be on hand to share her favorites in home accessories, plus between 4 - 6 p.m., you guessed it, more K-J Chardonnay.

Lots more events take place on Saturday, and discounts continue through Sunday. For a map of the action, click here.
