Lardtracks Stall Metra Service

2008_6_6.supernotafanofthatsplitinfinitive.jpgI was just writing Extra, Extra because I thought it was 6 o'clock. D'oh, it's only 5! And if you think that's a bummer, just be glad you're not taking Metra's Union Pacific West line.

Commuter rail service on Metra's Union Pacific West Line has been halted indefinitely at the height of the afternoon rush hour because a stalled freight train is leaking animal fat onto the tracks, Metra officials said Friday afternoon.

Emphasis ours. All together now: Ew! Trains are back to running, but expect serious delays. [Trib, Metra. Thanks, Kathy!]
