This morning's storms seem to have hit Chicagoland the hardest, between the hours of 6 a.m. and 8 a.m. More than 99,000 customers in the city, north suburbs, south suburbs and west suburbs are without power. While the day has been beautiful since then, the area is again under a thunderstorm warning.

Meanwhile, crews from the city Department of Streets and Sanitation’s Bureaus of Forestry and Electricity have responded to 412 reports of trees damaged, 32 reports of traffic signals out, 18 reports of light poles damaged and 34 reports of wires down as of 10:30 a.m.

Also, two men were rescued from Lake Michigan off of Navy Pier this morning after the canoe they were paddling in overturned when caught in the storm. Both were rescued quickly and taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

The storms are expected to diminish this evening. [S-T]
