Pat Foley Returns to 'Hawks Booth

By Benjy Lipsman in News on Jun 17, 2008 4:25PM

hawks_logo.gifAfter two seasons of exile in Rosemont calling the Wolves, legendary play-by-play announcer Pat Foley is returning to the Blackhawks. He'll team up with with Eddie Olczyk to cover all of the 'Hawks games on — gasp! — TV.

From the moment that John McDonough joined the organization at its president, there had been pressure to bring Foley back. While it's been an all-but-done deal for a while, the Blackhawks had to wait until the Calder Cup champion Wolves season concluded to make the news official.

Foley, who announced the Blackhawks on the radio and TV for over 25 years when the team rescinded a contract offer in May 2006. Given his candor about the team, their poor play and the personality of Bill Wirtz it's amazing he made it that long his first go round. With Rocky Wirtz now the team owner, some exciting young players, televised games and Foley on-air to call 'em, it's looking more and more like hockey might reappear on many Chicago sports fans' radars once again.
