  • Sam Adams head honcho Jim Koch will be at Binny's South Loop this evening from 5-7 p.m. Koch will be pairing several Sam Adams selections with various summer grill dishes, as well as give a historical overview of how he founded Boston Beer Company using his great-grandfather's recipes. RSVP to (312) 768-4400.
  • Folks around here love a good riesling. Lucky for us that it's Riesling Week and Julia Thiel has comiled a list of restaurants celebrating it in town over at the Food Chain.
  • Also from the Reader's website, Chicago Drinks is a new site where readers can view weekly drink specials throughout town, get an inside look at bars throughout town and view videos previously posted to the Food Chain. It's definitely a work in progress, but shows promise. Until then, keep reading Anthony's "Properly Sauced" posts here.
  • Seems like not that long ago Bridget and Tammy at Chicago Bites posted their 100th podcast. This week's review (#109 for those keeping track) is a stellar review of Mixteco Grill [1601 W. Montrose, (773) 868-1601], the new highly-touted Mexican restaurant in the gray area between Lakeview, Ravenswood and North Center that's giving Geno Bahena a run for his mole.
  • Mike Nagrant steps away from Hungry Mag for a bit to track down former local chefs and what they're doing now for Time Out Chicago. Nagrant posts updates from Ryan Poli (formerly of Butter), Gabino Sotelino of Mon Ami Gabi, and Jean Banchet of Le Francais, among others.
  • State Restaurant at 935 W. Webster all you can drink well and call liquor and appetizers to parties of 20 or more for $30 a person. In order to take them up on the offer, find 20 good friends and sign up here.
