Mariotti Haiku Contest

By Margaret Lyons in News on Jun 20, 2008 7:48PM

2008_6_20.mariotti.jpgJay Mariotti's tour de putzhood continues, making its stop this evening on Chicago Tonight. John Callaway lays the smack down on Mariotti over the less-than-kind things the columnist has written. From the Trib:

Mariotti: Are the local media now brainwashed that every time Ozzie goes off it's 'Ozzie being Ozzie,' or are we dealing with one of the great crackpots in the history of professional sports? I happen to choose the latter.

Callaway: That's what people would say about you.

Mariotti: Not me.

Mariotti also calls S-T colleague Rick Telander "bitter and old." I have no idea how he squeezed in time for this interview when he's so busy criticizing Ken Williams and Ozzie Guillen for not being "classy."

It's Friday, it's summer...I'm officially out of creative terms of derision for Jay Mariotti. So let's have a Jay Mariotti Haiku Contest. To get the ball rolling:

    The mullet is gone
    But not the idiocy
    Trashy is trashy

Winners of the last haiku contest after the jump...

I couldn't pick just one, so here are my two favorites:
