Dogs Rescued from Iowa Flooding

It's not just FEMA that's stepping up to help the flood ravaged Midwest. PAWS Chicago has a dozen dogs that they've rescued from flooding in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. While most of the dogs come from families that can no longer care for them, at least one canine was found floating in the water.

According to CBS 2, Paula Fasseas, a PAWS volunteer, said pet owners came in explaining "'We've lost our home, there's no way we can keep our pets, we just want them to get a good family'," said "So they come up, bring 'em here and give 'em water, do a quick med exam," said volunteer Cynthia Buczko, last week. "Tomorrow, spayed and neutered. Hopefully by the [holiday] weekend, up for adoption." PAWS is also expecting a group of dogs from Quincy, IL soon, as well.

The dogs are available for adoption at PAWS Chicago's Adoption Center in Lincoln Park at 1997 N. Clybourn Ave. You can get in touch with PAWS, to volunteer or adopt, by calling (773) 935-PAWS or checking out their website here.
