Quick: What are the five most populous cities in Illinois? Duh, Chicago numero uno with 2.84 million people according to the latest counts, but the rest?

Aurora (170,855), Rockford (156,596), Joliet (144,316), and Naperville (142,479). Rockford, you sneaky bastard! Thanks to a little over 4,000 new residents, Joliet edged out Naperville for the first time this year.

The new numbers out today are estimates for the population through July 2007. Elgin is the 20th fastest growing city in America, and Joliet is the 32nd fastest. [ABC 7]
