Zambrano Dominates Reds

Carlos Zambrano remained in demigod form in Wednesday's 5-1 whipping of the Cincinnati Reds at Wrigley. Zambrano, who has a 0.64 ERA in his last two outings, allowed one hit, one run and no walks in eight innings to earn his 10th win of the season. That's 10 wins before the All-Star break, not to mention (though we're mentioning it) a stint on the DL that caused him to miss a few starts. With the win, the Cubs are 35-10 at home, winning 17 of their last 19 at the really, really friendly confines.
Aramis Ramirez hit his 16th homer in the sixth to give the Cubbies a 2-1 lead. He added an RBI double in a three-run seventh that sealed the win.
Today, the Cubs go for the sweep of the Reds. Pitcher Ted Lilly, also looking for his 10th win of the season, takes the mound for the Cubs. The flowing locks and Invisaline-d Bronson Arroyo, who continues his attempt to appear as a grunge rocker despite his ALF/Macauley Culkin hybrid look, is pitching for the Reds. [AP, Trib]
Notes:
- Cubs All-Star pitcher Ryan Dempster also has 10 wins. Potentially three pitchers, before the all-star break, with 10 wins. Oh, and Rich Harden (5-1, 2.34 ERA) was signed from the Oakland A's this week.
- Super human Carlos Zambrano currently holds a .358 batting average.
