Boy Hit By Foul Ball to Be Okay

A 7-year-old boy from Frankfort is in a medically-induced coma, but going to be okay, after being hit by a foul ball at Thursday’s Cubs Game. Dominic DiAngi was at his first cubs game when a foul ball from Cubs pitcher Ted Lilly struck him in the head and fractured his skull. Doctors at Children’s Memorial medically induced a coma because he wasn’t breathing normally on his own, but still, they say he could be going home on Monday or Tuesday.
Dominic collapsed after being hit by the ball and his father carried him to the concourse where Cubs staffers and paramedics assisted him. His father told the Sun-Times Dominic’s breathing was spotty and his eyes had rolled back into his head:
"I was panicking because I just knew that this was not a good sign," he said. "I thought somehow it had been my fault.""This is a kid who just lives, eats and breathes baseball," Peter DiAngi said. "He just wanted to make sure he got to his first big league game. It was supposed to be a great day for him."
About that foul ball? A man sitting a few rows behind Dominic found the ball and gave it to Dominic’s father.
"Dominic won't let go of the ball," his dad said. "He's holding on to that ball right now." [S-T, Trib]
