Up in Wilmette, where apparently $100 bills are passed around like the clap, local businesses are on the lookout for fakes. Since Sunday there have been two instances of counterfeit bills being intercepted from restaurant patrons, both of whom seemed to have no idea their cash was phony. Police were called in both cases, but no word yet on whether just the one bill is terrorizing the neighborhood, or if it’s a full-blown epidemic. Store clerks have been instructed to hold $100 bills up to a light and check for security markings to determine authenticity. [Trib]
