Pitchfork: The Sideshow

By Kevin Robinson in Arts & Entertainment on Jul 19, 2008 5:55PM

If the hot and steamy weather, or the drizzly rain get to be too much for you at his year's indie rock fest, there's still plenty of distractions to keep you busy while wait for the next band.

Like last year, Pitchfork is hosting Depart-ment, the craft and handmade group that puts on events highlighting locally made goods. This year, there is a vast assortment of nifty items, from the ho-hum (like kintted iPod cozies) to the really cool (like pool ball beltbuckles). Because the goal is to set up like an actual department store, however, there are no vendor booths. You just come in, walk around, and pick out what you like. Take it up to a central check out, and there you go! A neat, one-of-a-kind goodie for you, and a great way to support the local DIY craft movement.
