AT&T Wants In On Chicago HD Market

2008_7_22.att.jpgAT&T is set to enter the Chicago TV market, filing notice last week that "it may begin offering Internet-based high-definition television service in portions of Chicago in as soon as 10 days." All together now: Anything but Comcast.

The Trib gave AT&T's service a six-week testdrive, and found "Comcast edges out AT&T in breadth of TV programming, but AT&T is much easier to use and has cleaner, modern on-screen graphics."

Comcast has an ace up its sleeve: If you have two or more HDTVs, you can set up each with a high-definition DVR. With AT&T, you can record up to four programs simultaneously on four separate boxes, but you're limited to one HD DVR.

Also, if you have two or more HDTVs, you should probably donate one of them to the Chicagoist main offices. [Trib, Crain's]
