Sexy Time

2008_07_sunday-night_sex_sh.gifOften local events featuring unknown local authors are a snooze unless you actually know the authors personally and enjoy picking out the bits of your shared history out of their pieces. However the folks behind the first installment of The Sunday Night Sex Show handily solves that problem by insisting that their readers only deliver "creative non-fiction" about sex. Who doesn't enjoy reveling in the sexy?

More importantly, writers being the self-deprecating lot they are, you know 89% of the stories will be about their sexual failures, and that is always grounds for the highest humor. (Y'know, the old trope that the highest comedy is borne from the greatest tragedy; we laugh at that which would otherwise cripple us and make us cry.) Actually we could care less whether the stories outline failure or triumph as long as they make us squirm in our seat with either pleasure or the flush of an involuntary blush response.

The whole thing goes down at The Burlington, 3425 W Fullerton, this Sunday, July 27, at 8 p.m. Drinks are cheap, the cover and the candy in the candy jar on the bar are free.
