Skateboard Design Show and Free Miller High Life Tonight

2008_07_skateboardart.jpgIn the skater world, having one of the more badass boards at the skate park is half the battle. To that end, A.Okay Official skate shop, in association with GetUp Skateboards, is hosting a skateboard design show and competition tonight at the Wrigleyville store. More than 20 local artists have submitted a design, all of which will be on display tonight starting at 6. While taking in tunes spun by DJ Trew and DJ MTM, viewers can cast a vote for their favorite, and the winner will have their design produced by GetUp.

This sounds like one of the more interesting art shows to take in this weekend, but we’re also psyched for the after party Bump! at Subterranean, mostly because there’s free Miller High Life from 9:30 to 10:30. (We’re pretty sure our Chicagoisto cohort Marcus Gilmer, a self-proclaimed sucker for the High Life, will be spotted here.) The party keeps rolling until 2 a.m. with the above DJs joined by Jaidot and Daryl Diggs. The cover charge is a mere $3 if you give the password “GetUp Skateboards.”

Art show and competition: A.Okay Official, 3279 N. Clark, 6 p.m.
After party: Subterranean, 2011 W. North, 9:30 p.m. to 2 a.m., 21+
