Free Booze and Cheeseburger

Hey kids, look! It's YET ANOTHER scuzzy, grungy, good times rock outfit out of Brooklyn, NY! While the preceding statement is 100% true, if you took it at face value and wrote Cheeseburger off as just another bunch of hipster wannabe trendsetters, you'd be missing one hell of a party.
Sure, Cheeseburger plays the big dumb rock archetype to the hilt. The lead singer flails all over the stage and seems to relishes flinging streams of sweat on anyone who dares to get too close. Sure, there's monster riffage occurring at an almost ridiculous rate. And yes, there is cowbell.
But in amongst all those stereotypes hides a band that is deceptively clever, and so slyly adept at crafting hummable hooks you don't even realize they're so strong until you find yourself humming them to yourself on the train ride home after the show. You sure as hell better not me driving home kids, because one can't resist the sweet temptation of flowing rivers of brown liquor mixed with pop-top beer can goodness at a real rawk show like the ones Cheeseburger puts on.
Which brings us to tonight's show at The Hideout, which has the triple allure of offering free admission, free cans of Colt 45 to early attendees, and the promise of an electric performance from a live band hat is fully in it's glorious, cacophonous prime. The only catch? You have to RSVP to get in. So get on it.
Cheeseburger plays The Hideout tonight, 1354 W Wabansia, 9 p.m., free with RSVP, 21+
