Day 6 of the Summer Olympics in Beijing saw another Chinese gymnastics gold medal and more success for American swimming superstar Michael Phelps. And while Thursday was a light day for our Chicago-area athletes, with Track & Field and Diving still to come, there's still plenty of action left for them in the next 10 days. Apropos of nothing, anyone know what Christian Slater is up to these days? It'd be nice if he could find some work...
Men's Basketball - Dwyane Wade and "The Redeem Team" continued their quest to return Team USA to the top of the podium, avenging their 2006 World Championships loss to Greece. Wade had 17 points, 3 rebounds, 5 assists, and 6 steals in the Americans' 92-69 victory. Up next for Team USA? Just the also 3-0 defending World Champion Spain team.
Men's Volleyball - Sean Rooney and Tom Hoff led the U.S. Men's team to a 3-1 (27-29, 25-21, 25-14, 26-24) victory over the Bulgarians.
