Chicago Olympians: Day 14

As we're entering the final days of this Olympiad, and focus turns to team finals rather than individual finals (though holy crap this Bolt kid is ridonkulously fast!), we're happy to see many of our area athletes still in the thick of the competition, especially with Gold Medal finals happening. Friday's action was light, but a pair of U.S. squads featuring Chicago-area members were in action, battling on towards more Gold. Full results after the jump.
Men's Indoor Volleyball - It's not quite the Miracle on Ice, but still close. The U.S. team, featuring Sean Rooney and Tom Hoff, defeated Russia 3-2 (25-22, 25-21, 27-25, 25-22, 15-13) in an epic match to reach Sunday's Gold Medal final where they'll play Brazil.
Men's Basketball - Dwyane Wade and Team USA got their revenge against Argentina, the team that defeated the USA in the 2004 Olympics, with a 101-81 victory. Team USA jumped out to a big early lead that was just too much for Argentina to overcome, especially without their star Manu Ginobli available to flop his way to 20+ points. Wade had 12 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, and 1 stl. The Chicago Bulls' Andres Nocioni had 10 pts, 1 rebs, and 1 ast in a losing effort for Argentina. Next up for the US is Spain in Sunday's Gold Medal Finals. The US already beat Spain once, a 119-82 victory last weekend.
