Zambrano Does It All In Cubs Win
Not only did ace Carlos Zambrano pitch seven strong innings, giving up just one run and striking out four, but he helped his own cause with a solo home run in the third inning, his fourth of the year. Mark DeRosa also homered in the Cubs 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. The lone blemish for Zambrano was a solo home run he gave up to Jay Bruce in the sixth. Carlos Marmol gave up an eight inning run in relief and Kerry Wood pitched a scoreless ninth for his 26th save of the season. All of this from Z in spite of...a cracked molar. "I think I ate too much gum, and the gum has a lot of sugar. I keep telling my daughter not to eat a lot of gum and I'm not a good example. I think my daughter today will be all over me at the house. I accept it." Z spit the tooth out during the game; no word on when it'll show up on Ebay. Jason Marquis gets the start today as the Cubs open up a series with the Washington Nationals.

White Sox Get A Breather
After sweeping the Mariners, the White Sox got Thursday off. Tonight the Tampa Bay Devil Rays come to town for a weekend series; John Danks gets the start for the Pale Hose.
