30 Dogs Rescued From Homewood House

By Prescott Carlson in News on Aug 31, 2008 1:35PM

thisdognotneglected.jpgAuthorities in south suburban Homewood rescued 30 dogs yesterday from a residence there, and were quoted as saying the pups were living in "absolutely horrible conditions." It was reported that many of the dogs were actually pedigreed, and included 17 pit bulls.

A couple in their 30s who were in the house claimed ownership of the dogs, Gannon said. Authorities declined to identify the couple.

The man was cited with four ordinance violations: operating a kennel without a business license, noxious smell from a residence, unsanitary conditions and structure in disrepair for a bad roof.

We have to wonder what the final straw was to make a neighbor finally tip off police about the 30 neglected dogs living next door. Our pain in the ass neighbor calls the cops if somebody's lawn gets a 1/4" too high. [Trib, photo by mmmmarshall]
