2008_09_sonoma_in_chicago.gifThe Sonoma County Winegrape Commission is working to raise even more awareness to one of California's best winemaking regions with a series of local events. "Experience Sonoma in Chicago" is intended to feature some of the best wines the region has to offer. Here's hoping some of you who signed up for Green City Market's Localvore Challenge added wine to your lists of exemptions.

Tonight from 6-9:30 p.m. at the Allerton Hotel (701 N. Michigan), "A Taste of Sonoma" ($65 per person) is a food-and-wine pairing event featuring grape grower Jim Murphy, vintner Joel Peterson of Ravenswood Winery, and chef Bruce Reizenman. Chef Reizenman will cook a harvest dinner tomorrow night, also at the Alerton. the six-course dinner costs $125.

Additionally, this is "Sonoma in Chicago Restaurant Week." A slew of restaurants, including Frontera Grill, Spring, Green Zebra, Le Lan, Lula Café, Shaw's Crab House and Table Fifty-two, will feature Sonoma wine selections through September 14.
