Biden Takes it Back to the Issues

With the electorate still seemingly enamored with John McCain's VP pick, Joe Biden announced at a fund raiser in Chicago earlier this week that he would be well prepared to debate Sarah Palin early next month.
Speaking to donors in the back yard of Chicagoans Barbara Goodman Manilow and Steve Koch, he said that he's going to focus on the issues. "Folks, look, I know what she's going to try to do: she's going to try to make it as personal as she can. She's going to take a lot of straight lefts and jabs at me. She's going to try to get me to respond. She's going to try to get me to respond in a personal way," Lynn Sweet reports. "That's not my style. I'm not going to do it." Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm has even offered to stand in for Palin so he can practice. Biden's not sure if he'll take her up on the offer.
"What I care about is: What in God's name is she going to do—along with John McCain—about the thousands of people who don't have health care?" Biden said. Hoping to turn the tone of the election away from personality, he said that he'll take her on over "the superhighway of terror between Pakistan and Afghanistan where my helicopter was forced down...John McCain wants to know where Bin Ladin and the gates of Hell are? I can tell him where. That's where Al Qaeda is. That's where Bin Ladin is. It's not in the country of Iraq."
The Vice Presidential debates are Thursday, October 2, at 8 p.m.
