Everyone Has An Opinion. These Two Are Just Bigger Than Most

2008_09_holy_sushi_roll_batman.jpgHelen Rosner at MenuPages Chicago was all over the "can you top this, MF" between Mikes Nagrant and Gebert Friday regarding their respective city eats guides: Nagrant's at Serious Eats; Gebert's response at Sky Full of Bacon.

City eats guides are always risible propositions; men have been killed in this city over trivial matters such as what joint makes the best thin crust. Nagrant and Gebert are two of the more passionate indiscriminate omnivores out there. Reading their lists, the two had nearly as many restaurants in common than they differed — Top Notch Beefburger for straight-up best burger joint; Paulina Meat Market for best meat market; Vito & Nick's for best thin crust. Combine the two lists and you have pretty much an ultimate eating guide through the city.

Except for one thing. The best BBQ in the city? Lem's.
