Friday Buffet

2008_9_19.dunkle.jpg Beer, Beer, and MORE BEER. Speaking of, if anyone knows where in Chicago we can get a bottle of some Feldschlosschen Dunkle Perle (pictured), we'll will trim your toenails (okay, maybe not - but dinner's in it for you). Let's see what's in the hopper, foodies!

  • Saturdays and Sundays during football season: Enjoy some football and a good deal at La Madia with a buddy. Any pizza off the menu and two beers (Stella Artois, Miller Light, Moretti, Trumer Pils, or Lagunitasor) for $20. Not bad! Even if your team loses (Go Notre Dame!). 59 W. Grand Ave.
  • September 15 - September 26 (Monday - Friday only): Head to Le Lan for a three-course prix-fixe menu. $36. Add $15 for wine pairings, $20 for cocktail pairings. 749 N. Clark.
  • September 20: Head to Lush Wine and Spirits to get some wine from the cult California winery, Pax Cellars. Joe Donelan, owner of Lush, will be there for the dinner (we'd give you more information but the website appears to be a down). Give 'em a call to learn more. 312-738-1900.   • September 21: Before heading in to see the Cubs win (Hey, Chicago, whattaya say! Cubs are gonna win today!) make your way to Clark and Waveland Fremont and Addison to watch the Jimmy John's Freaky Fast Sandwich Auction to support the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Bid on a sandwich package that come with Cubs-themed prizes. All proceeds go to the Food Depository - which is kick ass. 12:30 p.m.
  • September 22: California Beer and Cheese Pairing at Marion Street Cheese Market in Oak Park. Enjoy four rounds of beer paired with some great California cheeses followed by some revelry at the bar afterward. Mmm, beer and cheese. 7-10 p.m. 100 S. Marion St., Oak Park. $25.
  • September 24: Sheffield's and North Coast are pairing up to being you an awesome meal with some paired beers. (First course: Blue Star American Beer and a bacon wrapped house-smoked dates and gruyere "kabob". Drrrooooool.) RSVP by calling 773-281-1350. 7 p.m. 3258 N. Sheffield. $50.
  • September 25: FestivAle: A Celebration of Beer will be happening, sponsored by the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and presented by Goose Island Pub. A ticket gets you all you can eat appetizers and unlimited beer tastings. Auctions and a live band, too. 7-10 p.m. $50 for a ticket, $75 for the VIP reception. 3535 N. Clark.
  • October 2: Room 21's Chef Daniel Tucker will do a cooking demonstration on how to make perfect risotto. Taste the results with a paired wine for $10. If you dine before or after attending, you'll get $10 off your tab. Chef Tucker will be doing a different demonstration the first Thursday of each month. 6 p.m. 2110 S. Wabash.
