- Chicago police officer John Ardelean, who is accused of killing two men in a DUI accident last Thanksgiving, has been indicted a second time, charged with two counts of reckless homicide and four counts of aggravated DUI. A judge had previously thrown out his first indictment.
- An SUV was stolen this morning with three small children still inside. The children were dropped off a few minutes later in front of a home, unharmed. The SUV is still missing.
- First gas, now salt? Communities across the northern (and snowiest) section of the nation are facing salt shortages for the upcoming winter, which has resulted in higher salt prices.
- The Chicago-based 2008 MacArthur Foundation Genius Grant recipients were announced today. Two recipients are one-time Chicago residents: geriatrician Diane Meier of New York's Mt. Sinai medical school and UCLA astrophysicist Andrea Ghez.
- A Cubs World Series appearance could stimulate the Chicago economy to the tune of $100 million dollars, while the Sox would bring in around $72 million. And if both teams make the World Series, all of Northern Illinois will simply collapse in upon itself in a brilliant supernova.

- A Tinley Park man has been charged with battery and disorderly conduct after he got into a scuffle with a gas station manager...over cheese. The man had put cheese from the snack bar all over his bag of Fritos and was told by the manager he would have to pay $3 extra for the cheese; the man refused and the manager threw the Fritos away. Hilarity ensued.
