- Screw Congress, they still have jobs. Illinois' unemployment rate is currently 7.3 percent, the highest in 16 years.
- Chicago Police officer John Ardelean entered a not guilty plea today in connection to charges stemming from last year's Thanksgiving car crash.
- The Trib takes a somewhat morbid look at how age is a factor for McCain in the upcoming election. They noticeably fail to discuss Senator Joe Biden, who turns 66 in November. Thank goodness Sarah Palin covered that already.
- Note to Palin: Vladimir Putin can see you.
- The South Side's Robert A. Black Magnet School was honored by President Bush this week as a No Child Left Behind Blue Ribbon School.
- As we write this, the Cubs are up on the Dodgers 2-0 in the third inning thanks to a Mark DeRosa homer (and we just noticed that Ron Darling sounds exactly like James Woods), but TBS is doing nothing to help the Cubs. Of course, we don't believe in curses, so this doesn't worry the Cubs fans in the Chicagoist office. Nope. Not. At. All.
- Not to be outdone, the Trib's Paul Sullivan offers up a little help for the occasionally tongue-tied Stockton.
