Illinois, Juice Williams Tops Michigan
It was the Juice Williams Show Saturday afternoon in Ann Arbor as Illinois overcame an early deficit and poured on 21 fourth quarter points to spirnt past the Wolverines 45-20. After Michigan jumped out to a 14-3 first quarter lead, Williams and the Illinois offense scored four unanswered touchdowns to put the game out of reach. Williams threw for 310 yards and two touchdowns and then ran for 121 yards and two more touchdowns, accounting for 86 percent of Illinois 501 total yards. Arrelious Benn led all receivers with six catches and 122 yards.
Notre Dame Holds Off Stanford
Don't look now, but the Fighting Irish are 4-1 on the season after outlasting Stanford 28-21. The Golden Domers jumped out to a 28-7 lead and were forced to hold off a fourth quarter Stanford rally to earn the win. QB Jimmy Clausen was 29 for 40 for 349 yards and three touchdowns in the air while the Irish ground game failed to gain much traction, only totaling 82 yards on the ground.
Northern Illinois Falls To Tennessee
The Huskies fell just short of pulling off an upset of Tennessee at Neyland Stadium in front of nearly 100,000 testy Volunteer fans, as Tennessee topped Northern Illinois 13-9. While Northern Illinois kept Tennessee's offense in check, only allowing 225 total yards, the Huskie offense was even less productive, churning out only 194 total yards and found themselves in the red zone several times but having to settle for three field goals.
