• Police are investigating a sexual assault/robbery that occurred last night in Hyde Park. The suspect is described as "a black man, 5-foot-10 to 6 feet in height, weighing 200 pounds and wearing a dark blue sweatshirt and blue jeans." Surveillance footage available here.

• Two men were shot and wounded by an off-duty police officer in what appears ot be an attempted robbery on the city's Southwest Side.

• Charges have been dropped in two "cold cases" by Kane County prosecutors now that a witness in who was to testify in both cases has been murdered.

• A construction vehicle fell on a worker near the Shedd Aquarium this morning, crushing his legs. He was last reported in critical condition at Northwestern Memorial Hospital.

• Good news, Midlothians: you won't have to worry about that pesky ban on baggy pants.

• Kind of a downer EE today, so let's bake a cake to cheer us up.
