- Kiayanna Salter, the teen who was shot and killed onboard a CTA bus last Sunday, was laid to rest today.
- GM announced today it is shutting the doors on its Janesville, Wisconsin plant, responsible for producing SUVs. The closing will happen sometime in 2009 and will cost 1,340 jobs.
- An Englewood man committed suicide after accidentally shooting his brother Sunday night. The man had been trying to shoot a dog that had bitten his brother but instead struck his brother in the head.
