CTA Adding Email Alerts To "Improvements"

The CTA added a new alert system today that enables riders to receive emails notifying them of construction reroutes. Said CTA President Ron Huberman, “Over the last year, it’s become very clear to all of us at the CTA that we needed to come up with a very holistic plan to change how we communicate with our customers." But those aren't the only additions to the CTA happening. Beginning Monday, eight more routes will be added to the CTA's Bus Tracker (which we're actually growing fond of). The routes include: No. 6 Jackson Park Express, No. 11 Lincoln/Sedgwick, No. 69 Cumberland/East River, No. 79 79th St., No. 87 87th St., No. 145 Wilson/Michigan Express, No. 151 Sheridan, and No. 157 Streeterville.
The CTA will also soon begin a test pilot with signage at train stations which will display status of the respective rail lines as well as the time until the next train's arrival. A website relaunch is also in the works, which will allegedly include more up-to-date information about the rail and bus lines' status and an email service that will alert riders to service interruptions.
Last, but not least, the CTA Tattler got a response from the CTA regarding the possibility of some new stations, particularly focusing on the South Loop area. So, hey, maybe those fare hikes will be worth it, right?
