- It keeps getting tougher for the Chicago Police Department. Officer Andria Randolph, 40, was killed today when she lost control of her motorcycle and crashed. She was off-duty at the time of the accident.
- The FBI arrested 25 alleged members of the Spanish Cobras gang and 31 people overall on weapons and drug charges. The operation was called "Operation Snake Charmer." Nice.
- The suburb of Rosemont has entered the top bid in an effort to land a new casino.
- Cameron Elementary School Third Grade teacher Ronelle Robinson was awarded a Milken Educator Award, as was Cheryl Watkins, principal of Chicago's Pershing West Magnet School. The Milkens Awards are considered one of the highest honors for teachers.
