A Good Night To Be at the Lakeshore Theater

Didn't see anything in Pencil This In that tickled your fancy? Feel like two great events in one location? First up is Week 6 of Impress These Apes, Chicago's best (and only) comedic talent show judged by apes from the future. This week, all eight contestants will be presenting commercials for products of their own choosing. With the show's penchant for nudity, there's no reason to miss it. Or maybe there is. We'll leave that for you to decide. There are only two more weeks left after tonight, so you'd better get in while you can. The show starts at 8:00 p.m. and costs $15
After the comedy comes the music. Singer Jolie Holland will take the stage promoting her new excellent LP, The Living and The Dead. Once a member of bluegrass beauties The Be Good Tanyas, Holland stepped out on her own and has released several of her own fine records. Her earthy folk takes a slide towards indie rock this time around, thanks to help from M. Ward, but it's just as enchanting as her previous work. Check out the video for her single, "Mexico City." Jolie performs at 10:00 p.m. and it'll cost ya a measly $15 to catch her in action, well worth the price.
