Candidates Become Cabbage Patch Kids

By Marcus Gilmer in News on Oct 28, 2008 6:40PM

As if you haven't quite reached an overload of election stories yet, Jakks Pacific Inc. has announced that Cabbage Patch Kid likenesses have been made of the 2008 Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates. We won't complain too much: the dolls will be auctioned off on Ebay with all proceeds benefiting the U.S. Marine Corp's Toys for Tots. The auction starts October 30th and continues until Election Day. Still, the image that landed in the Chicagoist inbox this morning kind of shocked us.

Said Jakks spokeswoman Genna Rosenberg, “These four folks in particular seemed like the perfect candidates, if you will, to become one-of-a-kind Cabbage Patch Kids. We've had a great history with making celebrity look-alikes with these Kids. We've done everyone from Elvis to Donald Trump to Ellen (DeGeneres) and Oprah (Winfrey).” Growing up, I was the kid that swiped my sister's Cabbage Patch Kids and held them for ransom. If I were to do the same thing today, would the Cabbage Patch Kid Secret Service bust down my door?
