Give Back: Greenheart

By Amy Mikel in Arts & Entertainment on Oct 28, 2008 8:30PM

2008_10_28_greenheart.jpgEmanuel Kuntzelman, founder of the Greenheart Initiative, will be at the Chicago Center for the Performing Arts tonight to host a free "lively” discussion called Our Singular Moment, a look at how the present time has the potential to change the world. Kuntzelman’s theory is based on the idea that while society creates its own realities, it can transcend cultural conditioning to evolve a healthier personal and social awareness. The discussion has a foundation in Kuntzelman’s research and experience from his travels, using quantum physics, systems and chaos theory to support his model of social evolution.

Organizations like Greenheart – headquartered here in Chicago – promote social responsibility with global initiatives supporting high school exchange and volunteer programs through its Greenheart Travel and Environmental group programs. The Greenheart shop, which has gotten some good local publicity since opening its River North location last November, is a non-profit store dealing in fair-trade and eco friendly products. (And shopping as a singular form of social responsibility? Well, we suppose every little bit helps.)

777 N. Green Street, 10/28, complimentary cocktail reception beginning at 6 p.m., discussion follows at 7 p.m., Free
