Amtrak Derails in South Loop

Amtrak experienced a “very minor” derailment earlier this morning in the South Loop. [How one can have a ‘very minor’ derailment, we’re not sure; either you’re on the tracks or you’re not. Is it like a ‘minor flesh wound?]
Two cars of Amtrak’s New Orleans to Chicago train slipped from the tracks about 8:30 a.m. near 1600 S. State Street. The train had 90 passengers, and was only about a mile from Union Station.
[Amtrak spokesperson] Romero said officials were trying to decide if they were going to take the passengers in the end two cars that derailed to Union Station by bus or if they were going to separate those cars and have the rest of the train finish the trip. [Trib]
