- President-Elect Obama went to Washington today where he met with current President George W. Bush to discuss the transition. Among the topics of conversation were the economy, homeland security, and how to stand awkwardly next to each other.
- It doesn't look like there was any foul play in the case of an Evanston woman's three siblings whose bodies the woman has continued to live with for years. Investigators also don't think the woman was engaging in Social Security fraud.
- Decorated former Chicago Police Officer Joseph Airhart Jr. was laid to rest yesterday. Airhart died last week from complications due to injuries sustained in a 2001 shooting in the line of duty.
- Police are searching the Northwest Side this evening for a 3-year-old girl who walked out of a CVS store at 3200 block of North Pulaksi this afternoon. She's described as, "wearing blue t-shirt, pink pants, pink Dora The Explorer shoes and yellow earrings."
- Today in Chicago History: it's the 33 anniversary of the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. All 29 crew-members on board perished in the sinking.
- In happier anniversary news, Granddad, an Australian lungfish, celebrated its 75th anniversary at the Shedd Aquarium today. Its the older living aquarium fish in the world.
