yeah.jpgHüsker Dü fans get a special eyes+ears treat at Heaven Gallery on Friday, with special performances by ex-Hüsker Dü drummer Grant Hart and Chicago vocalist/violist Anni Rossi (4AD records), as well as the inaugural exhibition of Yony Leyser's Daily Life Sucks -- photographic works that document squat, punk, queer, transgender, anarchist and outsider cultures in central Europe and the central U.S. 7-11 p.m. 1550 N. The 7th annual Select Media Festival, brought to you by LUMPEN magazine, continues at The Nightingale on Thursday, Nov. 20 with new videos by Yoshi Sodeoka, Ben Jones, Devin Flynn, Eric Wareheim and Tim Heidecker, Eric Fensler, Ara Peterson, Billy Grant and Takeshi Murata. Only $5! 9 p.m. 1084 N. Milwaukee. And that's not all: The festival continues through Nov. 22 with activities in Bridgeport -- the official opening of the Bridgeport Art District.

At Finch Gallery, gallery Executive Director Nicholas Freeman hosts his own show of new paintings on terra cotta, which are stylistically driven by the red-figure vase painters during the late archaic period in Athens (520 - 460 B.C.) Opening receptions on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 21 and 22 from 6-11 p.m. 2747 W. Armitage.

Kasia Kay Art Projects Gallery presents a solo exhibition of new photography by Claudia Hart and the annual Winter Group Show featuring gallery artists. Hart's PhotoMortifications series combines computer models of digital sculptures with baroque emotional expression to make a statement about the anonymity of digital culture.
