It's here, the best food day of the year. And it's a day we give thanks. Thanks, for instance, for this amazing weather. Sunny skies and temps in the upper 40s. We here at Chicagoist are thankful for many things: our friends, our families, our pets, the men and women in the armed services, etc. But what are Chicagoistos and -istas thankful for?

Tankboy - The Burlington, Chicago's always eye-popping and ear-blowing music scene, Popeye's Fried Chicken (breasts only, please), and my family room. Oh, and my family, friends, beagle, and kitten. Them too.

Stolpman - Dog-friendly places, park and rec space near the lake and BARACK OBAMA

Kevin - I'm thankful I have a stable, secure job that I really love and look forward to going to 90% of the time; that Harold Washington inspired Barack Obama, and that our city often sends our best and brightest to make the country better; for our kick-ass library system; and my friends and family

Amy - Snow during the winter, family living nearby, people I see giving up their seats on the CTA, and the Harold Washington Library

Chuck - Starka liqueur at Bernice's Tavern in Bridgeport (makes Malort taste like Dr. Pepper); the bartenders at Bernice's Tavern in Bridgeport (makes the Starka go down more smooth); Four days off; Being gainfully employed in this shithole of an economy; My family (I know you're reading); a healthy dog; change I can believe in; not living in a center-right country; living in a world-class culinary city; the Blackhawks are good again; Good quality winter bike clothes; glögg season; the wonders of cooking with duck fat; reading the bacon meme; faster horses, younger women, and older bourbon (those last three with apologies to Tom T. Hall)

Karl - The way the first shot of Jeppsen's Malort's makes peoples' faces
shrivel; the winters that keep us tough and our property values away from California and Florida levels; the way we're spoiled with phenomenal ethnic food, specifically Mexican and Thai that beats the shit out of just about everywhere else, nationally; and the opportunity to watch the next Presidential administration play out on our home turf

Lauri - The Obamas, for keeping it real enough, Heating systems, The ACLU,
Chicago's lively and friendly arts scene, Friends, co-workers and some family (OK, just Dad, Trader Joe's vegetarian options (and friendly staff), Wasteful Chicagoans who throw away stuff to scavenge, Hipster Runoff, and the stories I hear about Jim's Family Room

Benjy - That the Cubs and Sox both made the playoffs, and that the Sox won more playoff games than the Cubs did; Derrick Rose; That Kyle Orton gives the Bears the closest thing to a real QB that they've had in decades; and Barack Obama's election, giving us a competent, Democratic White Sox fan in the White House

Ali - I'm thankful for the hospitality Belmont Avenue has shown me over the
years, for this city's kind people that make room for me under heat lamps at L stops, Oak Street Beach, block parties everyone's invited to every weekend of the summer, the beer connoisseur bartenders at Sheffield's, Uggs seven months of the year, flip flops the other five,
2 a.m. cabs, reasonable rent, that sitting by the lake always brings incredible calm, and that our city is blowing the winds of change

Prescott - that I get to write about one of the greatest cities on earth and am paid to do it. And for Miley Cyrus.

Marcus - Everything Prescott just said. And our readers.
