Your Dose of Dance: The KTF Championship

The Keeper of the Floor (KTF) improv dance battle is a monthly series from the Chicago Dance Crash company, and something we have previously touted as a good opportunity to get introduced to the local dance scene. For those who shudder at the idea of a dance show its a great way to see something a bit more accesssible. The performances are meant to cater to the audience, which then chooses the winner of each dance competition.
But the concept of an improv dance competition will lose its luster if the same dancers are always involved, and this is something the company has really tried to be proactive about. For a few months now, outsiders have been coming in to compete against the resident dancers, and now with their big year-end show coming up, a gaggle of former company members are slated to compete against the Dance Crash regulars for the KTF championship belt. This fresh rivalry can be expected to add some extra oomph to Friday’s dance war, which typically gets pretty rowdy anyways.
The Lakeshore Theater is continuing to keep tickets cheap for these shows – at $10, you can enjoy this brassy good time without breaking the bank. And Chicagoist is helping out by offering two pairs of tickets to the event. Just enter after the jump. Best of luck, and hope to see you there!
