The holidays tapping out your entertainment budget? Check out some of our favorite spots for where you can pick up a meal for two for $20 bucks.
- L. Stolpman: Taqueria Los Comales in Pilsen. At $1.50 a taco, you can get 8 and two sodas and be in good shape. Also, The Noodle in Chinatown. Two bowls of Pho with steak (the #1), sodas and even one of their awesome beef springrolls won't do much damage. Naaaaace.
- Benjy Lipsman: Tank Pho fits pretty much no matter what you'd order. Hopleaf - Mussels for 2 is $20. But it'd be a waste to go and not have a beer or two...
- Anthony Todd: Check out Crisp.
- Rob Christopher: Buena Vista: BYO and you can get stuffed easily for $20. Nancy's: best damn chicken tetrazzini & the plate is so full it lasts for 2 or 3 meals. Stella's Diner, 3042 N. Broadway: you name it. I posted about their heavenly egg salad sandwich last year.
- Tankboy: You probably already guessed my answer but Tecalitlan Restaurant. Or, if you share a brisket basket and order an additional side you can eat for under $20 at Fat Willy's.
- Lauri Apple: For those who don't eat creatures, Soul Veg!
- Ali Trachta: Matsuyama: It's BYOB so that knocks down the bill considerably. If you order correctly, you could easily get about 3 rolls and some edamame for under $20. The Goddess and Grocer - Gourmet sandwiches, salads, etc. made with fresh ingredients at really reasonable prices. Johnny's Grill - Absolute best bacon cheeseburgers on the planet. I only eat them a couple times a year as not to ruin it with any guilty feelings. Order them with everything. Your life will flash before your eyes.
- Lizz Kannenberg: I second Tank Noodle in Uptown and add Cozy Noodles & Rice (Lakeview location Evanston location) and Marie's Pizza in Albany Park - large pizza is $12. Jerusalem in Old Town
- Marcus - Popeyes. And I"ll third Tank Noodle.
