Oprah Weighs In On Weight

2008_12_9oprahcover.jpgOprah Winfrey will confess through January's O Magazine that she's back on the weight roller coaster, having recently packed on 40 pounds to make her a round 200. In the article released today to the AP, she says her recent battle with a thyroid condition gave her a fear of working out, and in general caused her to stray from her commitment to healthy living. In her own words, "When it comes to maintaining my health I didn't just fall off the wagon. I let the wagon fall on me."

Oprah's struggle with weight has been well documented on her show for decades. She's covered the topic of weight loss countless times, and she's also been forthcoming with details about her own body image issues. Still, Oprah says recently she hasn't been following her own lead. She claims she hasn't been heeding the advice she and her on-air friends have been doling out with regard to living your best life, explaining, "I didn't follow my own fundamental rule of taking care of self first."

This explains the somewhat cryptic trailers we've been seeing for Oprah's upcoming "Best Life Week," which premieres January 5th. During this series, Oprah is expected to once again come forward with her weight issues. We love Oprah and we wish her well. Still, we couldn't help but snicker at her inauguration dress dilemma: "I had a dress on the vision board, but I'm not sure that's gonna fit," Oprah told the AP. "So I have to work on something else." [WBBM]
