- A few updates in the Blago case: a source told the Associated Press that "Senate Candidate 4" in the federal complaint is Illinois Deputy Governor Louanner Peters and the FBI has subpoenaed the Tribune Company in connection with the case.
- An interesting analysis from the Associated Press of the Blagojevich Tapes suggests that the case against the governor is not as strong as it seems because much of it is all talk and no action.
- While the International Olympic Committe has already said Blagojevich's arrest wouldn't affect Chicago's chances at landing the 2016 Olympics, there's a chance it could be weakened if Blagojevich is removed from office and his promise of $150 million towards the cause is never fulfilled.
- The City Council has passed legislation requiring valet parking companies to up their insurance and do more to find off-street, non-metered parking.
- A Berwyn police officer who was involved in a fake diploma scandal was denied a promotion by the Berwyn City Council. who cited lack of funds as their reasoning and made no mention of the diploma incident.
- A UIC student has been charged with home invasion stemming from a December 1 incident in which he entered a home in the 1400 block of West Taylor Street, armed with a shotgun, and took money from the residents.
- While Jake Peavy is off the trading block, Sports Illustrated is reporting that the Cubs are talking to the Mets about a deal that would send Jason Marquis to New York with Mets reliever Scott Schoeneweis being mentioned as compensation. Blergh.
