Northwestern soundly defeated the Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos 77-62 on Monday. A 12-2 spurt midway through the first gave the Wildcats some elbow room, as they were able to maintain a three-plus possession lead for most of the contest. The Kangaroos rank second in the NCAA in three-point attempts, but the long ball worked in Northwestern's favor this time with four different Wildcats converting at least two from deep. Forwards Kevin Coble and John Shurna scored 22 and 20 respectively, and snagged eight rebounds apiece.
Chicago State couldn't keep pace with the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors, falling 85-75. The Warriors held a 15-point advantage from the free-throw line, and never let their lead dip below nine in the second half. David Holston scored 28 for the Cougars, and John Cantrell followed up with 24. Despite his team's 3-6 record, the prolific Holston has made more threes this season than any NCAA player, and is ranked second in the nation in points scored per game.
