• Karma, thy name is Daley. The Mayor's car gut stuck this morning on a snowy side street as the mayor was leaving an event at a South Side senior center. We'll see how much salt that road gets from now on.

• A shootout last night in the 13400 block of South Burley between police and a suspect led to the suspect sustaining life-threatening injuries, but a policeman who was struck survived thanks to his bulletproof vest.

• If you thought Chicago's plowing problems were bad, how about this: three Fox Lake teens were arrested for allegedly shooting their pellet guns at passing plows, shattering windows. Jerkstores.

• Beware in the Morgan Park-Beverly neighborhood: thieves are disguising themselves as snow shovelers.

• Sad: 47-year-old lowland gorilla Beta died at the Brookfield Zoo last night.

• Some happy news to get you into the weekend: the Chicago Film Critics Association named WALL-E its best picture of 2008. Hell, yeah, we love that movie.
